Double Screws Compost Turning Machines Operation Precautions

2025/12/18

1. Material Pre-treatment Control

Before composting with a double screws compost turning machine, the moisture content of the material should be adjusted to 55%-60%, and the carbon-to-nitrogen ratio should be controlled at 25:1-30:1.  Hard impurities such as stones and metals should be removed to prevent wear or jamming of the spiral blades.

2. Composting Operation Standards

Control the turning depth and frequency. The depth should cover the effective working range of the spiral, and the frequency should be adjusted according to the fermentation stage of the material – turn once every 1-2 days during the heating phase, and once every 2-3 days during the high-temperature phase. This ensures even aeration and timely heat dissipation, preventing localized anaerobic decomposition and odor, or excessively high temperatures that inactivate beneficial bacteria.

3. Equipment Operation and Maintenance

During operation, pay attention to the sound and vibration of the fertilizer making machine. If abnormal noises or jamming occur, stop the machine immediately for inspection. After operation, promptly clean residual materials from the spiral blades and frame. Regularly lubricate bearings, chains, and other transmission components to prevent rust and wear.

4. Site and Safety Requirements

The composting site should be flat and hardened, with sufficient space for the equipment to turn and move forward and backward, preventing uneven composting due to machine tilting. Operators must wear protective equipment and are strictly prohibited from approaching the spiral working area while the equipment is running to prevent mechanical injury.

In addition, the composting site should have a good drainage system to prevent rainwater accumulation from causing abnormal fluctuations in material moisture content. It should also be located away from residential areas or have necessary barriers to reduce the impact of odors generated during fermentation on the surrounding environment. Operators must receive professional training, be familiar with equipment operating procedures and emergency handling procedures, and are strictly prohibited from operating the equipment without proper certification or in violation of regulations.
