How to Prevent Sticking in Organic Fertilizer Disc Granulators

2025/10/29

Stickiness is a common problem during the operation of organic fertilizer disc granulators, not only affecting granulation efficiency but also resulting in poor pellet formation. The following points can effectively prevent sticking.

First, control the moisture content of the raw materials. Excessive moisture in the raw materials is the main cause of sticking. Organic fertilizer raw materials (such as livestock and poultry manure, straw, etc.) need to be dried or air-dried to keep the moisture content between 30% and 40%. Too low a moisture content can easily lead to loose pellets, while too high a moisture content can cause the material to adhere to the inner surface of the disc. Online monitoring equipment can be used to control moisture fluctuations in real time.

Second, properly adjust the disc angle and speed. The disc angle is generally set between 45° and 55°. If the angle is too small, the material will remain in the disc for a long time, causing it to accumulate and stick. If the angle is too large, the pellets will be easily ejected, resulting in a low pellet formation rate. The speed must match the angle. Excessive speed increases friction between the material and the disc surface, leading to increased temperature and sticking. These parameters can be gradually optimized through trial production.

Furthermore, ensure the disc surface is lubricated and cleaned. Before starting the machine, evenly apply a small amount of vegetable oil or a specialized release agent to the inner surface of the disc to form an insulating layer and reduce material adhesion. Regularly stop the machine between production runs and use a scraper to clean any remaining material from the disc surface to prevent scaling and hardening. After extended use, if the disc surface becomes worn or deformed, promptly repair and polish it to maintain a smooth surface.

These measures can prevent disc sticking from various aspects, including raw materials, equipment parameters, and operation and maintenance. This ensures efficient and stable operation of the organic fertilizer disc granulator, improving pellet quality and the production efficiency of the organic fertilizer produciton lines.
