Solutions for Sticky Rollers on Windrow Compost Turning Machines

2026/05/23

The following are solutions for sticky rollers on windrow compost turning machines:

1. Control Material Moisture Content: Maintain the moisture content of wet, sticky materials at 50%~60%. If too high, add straw, sawdust, or dry manure residue to adjust the moisture content and reduce stickiness, thus reducing adhesion at the source.

2. Optimize the Structure and Condition of the Cutting Rollers: Grind and dull the rake teeth promptly; replace severely worn ones directly; clean residual clumps from the rollers to keep the tooth surfaces clean and sharp; a simple scraper can be installed to remove sticky material during operation.

3. Adjust Operating Parameters: Reduce the travel speed to avoid material compression and adhesion; appropriately increase the roller speed to enhance centrifugal throwing force; halve the thickness of each turn to reduce the material load on the rollers.

4. Adjust Operating Methods: Perform shallow pre-turning, ventilation, and dehydration of wet materials; allow for deeper turning after the moisture content has decreased; avoid repeated compaction and accumulation in one place; perform segmented operations to minimize time for material adhesion and solidification. 5. Surface Anti-sticking Pretreatment: After shutdown, clean the rollers and dry them. Apply a thin layer of anti-sticking agent or waste machine oil to reduce material adhesion.

6. Daily Shutdown Cleaning: Thoroughly clean the roller teeth and rollers after each shift to prevent material from drying and thickening, which could worsen subsequent roller adhesion.
