The Role of Half-Wet Material Crusher in NPK Blending Fertilizer Production Lines

2026/06/17

While not the main equipment for blended fertilizer production, the half-wet material crusher is a crucial auxiliary device. It primarily handles agglomerated single-element fertilizers and organic additives, ensuring stable operation of the batching and mixing processes and resolving common problems such as raw material agglomeration and silo blockage, and inaccurate proportions.

NPK blended fertilizer raw materials such as urea, monoammonium phosphate, diammonium phosphate, and potassium chloride are highly hygroscopic and easily clump together after storage. Direct feeding into the batching silos can cause bridging at the discharge port, vibration failure to break the clumps, resulting in material shortages and excessive nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium ratio errors. The crusher can thoroughly crush hard fertilizer lumps into uniform particles, maintaining the same particle size as the original bulk material. This ensures uniform and stable feeding from each silo, significantly reducing weighing system deviations and guaranteeing that the finished product's nutrient content meets national standards.

When producing organic-inorganic blended fertilizers, NPK blending fertilizer production lines add organic raw materials such as well-rotted cow manure and humic acid. These materials have high moisture content and are prone to clumping, easily causing blockages in ordinary crushers. The semi-wet material crusher is suitable for materials with a moisture content of 20%-40%. It prevents sticking and screen clogging, breaks up organic lumps, and ensures that the organic powder matches the particle size of the fertilizer granules. This results in higher mixing uniformity during subsequent mixing in the twin-ribbon mixer, preventing stratification and uneven nutrient distribution in the finished product.

It also serves as a pre-treatment process to remove impurities and protect downstream equipment. Lumped fertilizer often contains hard lumps; after crushing, stones and metal impurities can be pre-screened and removed, preventing large hard objects from entering the mixer and damaging the mixing blades and conveyor belts. The finely crushed material has better flowability, reducing residue and adhesion during batching and conveying, minimizing raw material waste and cleaning frequency.

Furthermore, the equipment can handle returned materials and damp, lumpy finished products generated during production, crushing them and reusing them to reduce raw material loss. When this machine is installed in the entire blending production line, it can be adapted to both dry and wet raw materials, broaden the range of formula production, reduce the number of downtime maintenance due to material blockage, improve the continuous operation efficiency of the entire production line, stabilize product quality, and reduce operation and maintenance and raw material loss costs.
