What to do if the moisture content of the material in a semi-wet material crusher is too high?

2026/02/24

Half-wet material crushers have strict requirements regarding the moisture content of raw materials. Excessive moisture content directly affects equipment stability, production efficiency, and finished product quality, while also exacerbating equipment wear and tear and increasing maintenance costs. When the material moisture content exceeds the suitable range, it quickly adheres to the hammers, rotor, and inner walls of the machine cavity, forming a thick layer of mud. This leads to poor discharge, blockage of the cavity, and in severe cases, machine stalling or shutdown, preventing continuous production. High-moisture materials tend to clump together into mud, making them difficult to crush thoroughly. The finished product has uneven particle size, failing to meet the process requirements for organic fertilizer fermentation and granulation, thus affecting the quality of subsequent processes.

Excessive moisture content significantly increases the rotor's operating load, causing increased motor current, belt slippage, and bearing overheating and overload. Long-term operation can easily lead to motor burnout, belt breakage, and other malfunctions, while also increasing energy consumption and safety hazards. Furthermore, moist materials are more corrosive, accelerating the wear of vulnerable parts such as hammers and liners, shortening their service life, increasing replacement frequency, and raising maintenance costs. High-moisture materials, after being crushed, exhibit high viscosity, easily leading to bridging and feeding problems during conveying and mixing, thus reducing the efficiency of the entire production line.

To ensure the normal operation of fertilizer produciton machine, semi-wet material crushers are suitable for processing materials with a moisture content of 25%–45%. Moisture content exceeding 50% is prone to clogging and reduced output; direct crushing of materials exceeding 55% is not recommended. During production, it is necessary to reasonably control the moisture content of raw materials, pre-drying or adjusting them to ensure crushing effect, extend equipment life, stabilize production efficiency, and guarantee the smooth operation of the organic fertilizer production line.
